#switch! Hackathon Brings In New Solutions For Smart Cities

We want to change the daily life in the city! Around 70 people having this statement in mind participated in the #swithc! hackathon last week. This hackathon was shorter than usually so enthusiast had only one and a half day to brainstorm ideas and polish the prototypes. The topic “Smart cities” was set for the event therefore participants created some useful apps and platforms in order to bring some safety and joy to busy life of modern people.
And here are the winners:
1st place: team “Photo Reporter”, which created an app for reporting graffiti, street holes, trash or other neighborhood problems. They were awarded with EUR 1000 prize from NASDAQ.
2nd place: team “Chocolate Bar”, which brought in the idea of phone charging stations in the city. This team was awarded with EUR 500 prize from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU).
“Show it” team was announced as the winners of best design and received 100 cups of coffee from Coffee Inn. This team created a website for the models of augmented reality previewing and uploading, which could help business to present their product more effectively and sell more.
The app for smarter way to get around in the city, which was presented by team “Rebu”, was announced as the best solution for the smart cities. Team was awarded with bean bags from “SBA baldai”.
“City Switch” team developed an app which turns light on in dark city areas and has an emergency button received a special prize from IBM – smart watches.
#switch! is ICT and entrepreneurship event, organized in Vilnius on October 8-9. #switch! hackathon is a part of the event and organized by Enterprise Lithuania, Startup Lithuania and KTU.
