“StartupHighway” & “Barclays” to Promote New Financial Technology Startups

Business accelerator “StartupHighway” and the technology centre “Barclays” in Lithuania (BTCL) is launching a programme designed promotion of financial technology (fintech) start-ups starting this week. At least three selected teams will be thoroughly consulted by business professionals, will have an opportunity to collaborate with BTCL specialists and make contacts with potential investors.
“This accelerator is a real, practical possibility and a chance for entrepreneurs, and young and promising start-up ideas in Lithuania to be noticed and establish ties not only among potential investors but also in the global financial market, particularly in “Barclays” bank. The programme aims to develop new fintech businesses in markets regarding payments, credits, e-money, insurance and financial means including local markets and attracting additional investments from funds” claimed a co-founder and a managing director of “StartupHigwhay” Rokas Tamošiūnas.
In the acceleration programme by “StartupHighway” and “Barclays” start-up teams will be consulted by 50 mentors, namely professionals and successful entrepreneurs from around world, among them Andrius Oks from Estonian fund “SmartCap”, a financial analyst Martynas Matekonis from “StartupHighway” and other “StartupHighway”, and “Barclays” mentors. Start-up teams will be provided with office space in “StartupHighway” co-working center, they will do business trainings, attend various events and meetings with potential investors and entrepreneurs and will be regularly consulted by BTCL specialists.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities to collaborate with and contribute to the development of new business acceleration programmes in Lithuania. We are sure that “Barclays” is able to yield benefit for start-ups which would encourage their development in Lithuania and around world. We have the experience in financial sector and we are willing to share our knowledge with the fintech start-ups” said the head of “Barclays” IT centre in Lithuania Giedrius Dzekunskas.
The selection for the joint acceleration programme by the biggest business accelerator in the Middle and East Europe “StartupHighway” and the technology centre “Barclays” in Lithuania starts on 21 of May and is going to last for three weeks. Overall at least three most promising business ideas will be selected to the programme which will be consulted and financially supported for three months.
