Another Lithuanian company, ChameleonJohn.com, is quite successfully trying to conquer the online coupons market in the US. The company was started in June, 2014 and right now already has expanded to 13 full-time employees in an office in Vilnius, Lithuania and Mumbai, India. They are also reportedly working with 500 American online retailers, such as Amazon.com, Nordstrom.com, Overstock.com and many others. Company is already successfully referring around 200 shoppers to various stores a day, which in turn saves people tens of thousands of dollars every month.
The founders started working on various online coupons projects 3 years ago and thus have accumulated enough experience to build one centralized website, which would help people save on hundreds of online stores around the world.
The company has been completely bootstrapped from past earnings, never raised funding and isn’t looking to do so at the moment.
When asked whether they are interested in expanding to the Lithuanian market or the Baltic states, the answer is a clear no, because the markets are simply too small. What’s more, after looking at the search data provided by Google Keywords Tool, it’s quite apparent that Lithuanians do not even know what online coupons are. So a company, who would like to expand here would have to educate the market, which is extremely expensive and time-consuming.
Let’s hope for another great Lithuanian success story in the international waters.
