It’s really fun to invent next app or device. But what is the bigger picture? Is your technology updated for the next 3-5 years? Startups will help creating new economy and opportunities. Right now, the challenges are to close social gaps that present technology has created, and stop abusing our growth because that could lead to the change we’re not prepared to.
The problem with imagining the future is that we try to do it with current materials. What could our fate look like if we thought outside the box?
Yanki Margalit, social entrepreneur, investor, Chairman at SpaceIL, which aims to landing the first Israeli Spacecraft on the Moon delivered a speed “The Future of the Future” at LOGIN Startup Fair 2015. Below you can find the summary of this presentation:
In future, we will be able to write biological code on electronic platform and vice versa. We are moving into integration of carbon and silicon. I totally believe, that we’re about to see a creation of HOMO SAPIENS 2.0, which will be combination of human we see today and technology we have created. It can be a wonderful future despite all the fears.
But let’s look at the present. Today, robot named “Curiosity” is preparing Mars for colonization. After 20-25 years, we will see people on nearest planet. It is important, because humanity is running out of their natural resources. What about robots on Earth? X47B – autonomic, shooting, flying craft which does not need a pilot. There is software being developed for cars that should replace drivers, because each year, millions of people die in car accidents. Future generation won’t understand, how a man was allowed to drive a car. Do you see where does this lead to? In some time, we won’t need human workers, because robots can replace us. They are more efficient, stronger, better. They do not make mistakes.
We use 3D printing today. What will happen, when we will be able to print organs? Mothers will have dilemma – whether they should leave their child’s heart, which can work for 70 years, or replace it with the one, that can last up to 200 years. We almost doubled life expectancy in the last 100 years, but the key factor still remains the same. The richer man is, the longer he lives. Not everyone will reach wonderful future we dream about today.
There are simple steps to follow in order to create optimistic future. We should emphasize social, ecological and technical innovation, bring back the number of 2.1 child per women and colonize Mars. The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.
