Vinted brings its brand to Lithuania

The Lithuanian startup Vinted expanded its brand and changed the name of its Lithuanian project Mano Drabužiai today.

“Our Lithuanian idea grew: 4 million girls in Europe and the USA love the community we created. We help them sell clothes they no longer wear and buy pre-loved items from each other. All our members will soon know us as Vinted,” said co-founder Milda Mitkutė.

After she and Justas Janauskas created Mano Drabužiai in 2008, the clothes exchange idea quickly caught on in the Czech Republic and Germany with the help of friends. Vinted websites and apps in these countries have names in national languages.

“As we planned expansion we started looking for one international name that we could use in new markets. Because it sounded similar to “vintage”, we chose “Vinted”,” Milda said.

This name was given to new clothes exchange communities in the USA, France, Poland and the UK. The projects in Czech Republic and Germany will also be renamed soon.

The members of the Lithuanian project are now an integral part of a huge community of girls who all believe that looking good doesn’t have to break the bank.

“There are also differences: in the US, Vinted is known as a handy app that helps our members sell and buy clothes, even while on the bus. Lithuanians still prefer using the website. We want to show them that using the app is much more convenient,” said Milda.

According to her, girls often message the Vinted team and express support for the idea. She smiles as she remembers a story about one member who bought a dress through the Vinted app during a boring date.

Celebrating the name change, Vinted recorded a few of these messages and put them together in a video http://youtu.be/-JB2APmjni0
